Description
I have often been of the opinion that Grand Bahama need not participate in the General elections, as it is often treated as a separate entity by government. I never thought that my opinion would be outwardly stated as a FACT until 6 June 2013 when the Minister of Education Mr. Jerome Fritzgerald made the statement that he is not getting involved in the situation with the cancellation of graduation at the Sir Jack Hayward High School, because that is a 'Grand Bahama Situation' in a meeting with Mr. Troy Garvey on Wednesday 5 June 2013.
Well Mr. Minister let me enlighten you on a few facts you have neglected or ignored....
* Of all the islands in the Bahamas, Grand Bahama is the only one that includes the name of the Bahamas
*Your JOB is to represent not one but ALL schools in the commonwealth of the Bahamas, if you are unwilling or incapable to do so, you should not be there
*Though you are not running for a seat in Grand Bahama the party in which you represent will be remembered as the party that did nothing to assist these children
*The 147 students that you have taken this hands off approach with, will be eligible to vote in the next general election, and they along with their parents, siblings, and extended family will remember this day. Trust me I speak as a PLP supporter and I guarantee you, your actions will not go UNREWARDED!!!
Signed
